IGP KP MR.Salah-ud-din Khan, visit to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Hayatabad Peshawar.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan has said that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was the back bone of police investigation which was playing a pivotal role in an increasing trust of the courts on police performance.

He was addressing staff of the FSL during his visit to its office at Hayatabad Peshawar today. Director FSL briefed the IGP about the performance, up-gradation, training, capacity building, shortage of manpower and necessary equipments and short term and long term measures of the laboratory. He also informed the IGP about the existing and proposed disciplines and future plan of the laboratory. The IGP was further told that international standard of investigation was pursuing in the laboratory, there was no pendency in the laboratory and all 4500 cases have been examined and sent back to the relevant districts. The IGP was also informed that modern method is being adopted to preserve the crime scene. All staff of the laboratory are well committed and performing their duties with professional zeal and spirit. He was further told that beside Gilgit Baltistan police, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Anti-Narcotics, Excise and Custom departments were availing the services of this laboratory. Likewise crime scene units have been established in 8 districts of the province and crime scene expert investigators have been provided to it. Addressing the staff of the laboratory on the occasion the IGP said that despite shortage of manpower and necessary equipments the excellent performance and hall mark achievements of the laboratory serve as a bacon of light for other provinces. The IGP informed that keeping in view the importance and achievements of the FSL it would be further extended and steps would be taken on priority basis for the official as well as personal confronting problems of the laboratory staff. The IGP also vowed that no efforts would be spared for making the laboratory State-of-the-Art and for this purpose all available resources would be utilized.

Earlier, the IGP went round each and every section of the laboratory where he met with the concerned staff and briefed himself from them about their nature of duty and Standing Operation Procedure (SOP) for it. The IGP directed the staff to take extra-effective measures for keeping the case evidences safe and secure. The IGP also announced an award of Rs. 3 lakh for all staff of the laboratory. The IGP also distributed commendation certificates amongst 5 members of the staff on their excellent performance.
