45-member delegation of Civil Judges-cum Judicial Magistrate attended a briefing on policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at CPO Peshawar on Thursday.
A 45-member delegation of Civil Judges-cum Judicial Magistrate attended a briefing on policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at CPO Peshawar on Thursday. Director General Judicial Academy Dr. Khurshid Iqbal led the delegation.

The delegation was briefed in detail by DIG Headquarters Sher Akbar with the help of charts about policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They were informed about the organizational structure, functioning and activities, managements practices, major achievements and challenges for the organization and its future plans. The delegation was also told about the police performance against criminals, militants, working condition and confronting challenges.

The delegation was appraised of Modus operandi of investigation by police, problems faced by police while conducting investigation, recording of statements of witnesses and other evidences on the case file, pertinent role played by police and judiciary to establish a crime free society, speedy provision of justice, accomplishing other legal formalities, professional expertise of the IO’s and the role of prosecution was discussed in detail. The members of the delegation were also briefed on the institutional reforms i.e establishment of Counter Terrorism Department, Rapid Response Force, City Petrol, K-9 Unit, BD Units at each Regional level, Geo Tagging, enactment of various laws, DRCs, PAL, PAS and Specialized Schools. They were also told about Police Act 2017, its implementation, formation of different safety commissions, complaint Authorities and committees under the new Act, better service delivery to the public and enhanced capacity of the force. The delegation was also informed about the militancy in the province and the steps taken by police to halt menace of terrorism.

In light of detailed briefing, the members of delegation asked various questions mainly about policing and justice system which were answered by the IGP to their satisfaction.

The members of the delegation thanked the IGP Salahuddin Khan Mehsood and CCP Qazi Jameel-ur-Rahman for detailed briefing and appreciated the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police especially against terrorists on the face of valumonous challenges and limited resources.

Shields were also exchanged on this occasion. Later on, the delegation also visited DAS and police schools in Peshawar.
