KP Police Comparative Statement for the Year 2018
During the last five months of the current year the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has witnessed a sharp decline in the incidents of terrorism as compared to corresponding period of years since 2014. The current incidents of terrorism are the lowest in the last four years period. During the 1st five months of the current year, 21 incidents of terrorism took place as compared to 52 in year 2014, 108 in year 2015, 113 I year 2016 and 53 in 2017. Similarly the Counter Terrorism Department registered 49 cases and recovered 419 IEDs and other explosive materials during the current year as compared to 77 in 2014, 228 in 2015, 206 in 2016 and 152 cases in 2017. Moreover a sharp decrease has also been witnessed in the extortion cases. During the ongoing year 10 such cases took place as compared to 58 in 2014, 113 in 2015, 67 in 2016 and 44 in 2017. Beside other incidents target killing also registered at the lowest ebb. 15 such cases were registered during the current year as compared to last four years figures of 8, 55, 77 and 29 respectively. Similarly there is also a decline in kidnapping for ransom. During the current year 3 such incidents occurred as compared to 17 is 2014, 26 in 2015, 16 in 2016 and 7 in 2017. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salah-ud-Din Khan Mehsood has highly commended the excellent performance of CTD. It may be recalled that the CTD exclusively handling the incidents of terrorism in the province. The CTD not only register the cases but also investigate and apprehend the culprits. Presently 7 CTD Police Stations have been established all over the province at all the regional headquarters. It merits mention here that the CTD as front line force in the ongoing war against terrorism is performing very crucial role in eliminating terrorism. It has dismantled many networks of the terrorist owing to its professional skill and knack. It was due to sheer hard work and professional acumen of the CTD that people were seeing busy in carrying out their day to day activities in Bazars which was once a herculean task just to imagine about it before. All kudos to CTD and its brave men for combating terrorism in most professional manner.
