Traffic Police/Warden Performance
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traffic police challaned 33,00,589 vehicles on different traffic violations throughout the province during the current year and deposited an amount of Rs. 1,03,18,24,384/- in the National exchequer.
According to details, different traffic rules and regulations have been framed for road users and all its violators are being fined without any discrimination. Ample proof of this fact is that even elected public representatives, senators and high ranking govt officers have been challaned in this drive across the province. During the current year, Highways police impounded 1,51,013 vehicles and imposed fine to the tune of Rs. 7,20,80,500. Similarly in Peshawar 5,42,233 vehicles were challaned and fine Rs. 13,71,20,850 were imposed. Bannu region traffic police booked 1,35,023 vehicles and deposited Rs. 2,56,91,850 in the government treasury. DIKhan region traffic police challaned 92,280 vehicles and imposed fine of Rs. 29,84,200. Mardan region traffic police charged 7,15,268 vehicles and fined it Rs. 22,15,47,000. Kohat police also showed excellent performance and booked 133142 vehicles and fined it Rs. 4,74,982,200. In Hazara region 6,45,717 vehicles were impounded and fine to the tune of Rs. 28,75,33,584 were imposed. Likewise, Malakand region police challaned 9,03,913 vehicles and imposed fine of Rs. 2,01,05,04,200. All these amounts were deposited in national kitty.
It may be recalled that traffic police are continuously taking steps for traffic streamlining and improvement of traffic haphazard elsewhere in the province. For this purpose, traffic staff is also educating the students of different schools through lecture classes about traffic rules and regulations. Besides, these traffic police officers are sensitizing general public about traffic related laws by participating in different programmes on radio and television channels.
Moreover, the record of all driving licenses branches is being centralized in Peshawar traffic headquarters. In this connection, so far, the record of 8 districts has been centralized. And last but not the least the vehicles of all units of highway traffic police are being equipped with latest gadgetries including GPS system and live video streaming system.
