The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood visited Police Lines Swabi
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood has said that police would be linked with the general public through electronic policing very soon so as to effectively bridged the gap between public and police and promote public-friendly policing in the province.
This, he stated while addressing a police darbar at Swabi police lines today which was largely attended by every rank police officer and jawan of different units. DIG Mardan and DPO Swabi were also present on this occasion. The police chief informed the participants of the darbar that Swabi police was known for public-friendly policing and its jawan had always excelled in the field against terrorists by demonstrating extra-ordinary courage and bravery in every challenging situation. The IGP pointed out that in the ongoing war against terror several bloody encounters took place from time to time which also included the longest ever encounter lasted for several hours in which 7 dreaded terrorists were killed. The IGP said that the valour and bravery showed by the Swabi police against terrorists will be written in golden words in the entire history of police. The IGP further maintained that the main trait and fame of Swabi police was its public-friendly posture and the public had always given respect to the professionalism and commitment of the police. The IGP pointed out that the prevailing situation of a society reflects the standard of policing in the area and in the presence of efficient and professional police officer the narcotics peddlers and other criminals could not dare to commit crime. The IGP directed the participants to perform its duty like a true worship and promote policing of the people, for the people and by the people. The IGP made it clear that reward and punishment will go together in the force added those exhibiting excellent performance would be generously encouraged and those finding involved in lethargy and negligence of duty would be given due punishment. The IGP also informed that he had full perception about the confronting problems and difficulties of the force and assured that no one would be deprived of its due rights and all their problems would be solved on priority basis. The IGP attributed the prevailing peace and tranquility in the province to the matchless sacrifices of police by saying that we are indebted to more than 1600 police shuhadda who sacrificed their today for the nation tomorrow. He informed that approximately 30 million rupees are being spent for the welfare of heirs of police shuhadda every month. The IGP directed the participants to fully devote themselves for the service of the general public and achieve their much needed help for maintenance of law and order in their respective jurisdiction. The IGP highly appreciated the endeavors of the Swabi police for bringing normalcy in the district and termed it bacon of light for the rest of police of the province. In the darbar the IGP awarded the Swabi police officials with cash prizes and commendation certificates who showed excellent performance from time to time in the field against terrorists and other hard core criminals.
The IGP also met with the members of dispute resolution councils Swabi and held in high esteem their valuable services in connection with solution of petty issues and disputes of the people from this forum. The IGP revealed that keeping in view the trust of the general public on DRCs it would be further extended and strengthened in the province
