A total of 6664 disputes amongst the general public were amicably solved in the Dispute Resolution Councils during the year 2018.
According to the annual report issued from CPO, 9197 cases were received in these councils through out the province in which 6664 were settled and 1464 were referred to other relevant forums for necessary action and 1069 cases are under process. As per report the DRCs in Peshawar decided 454, in Mardan 1142, in Nowshera 256, Charsadda 137, Swabi 1639, Swat 318, Kohat 264, Karak 128, Hangu 157, Lakki Marwat 140, Buner 318, Upper Dir 155, Lower Dir 44, Chitral 15, Shangla 195, Torghar 3, Abbottabad 132, Haripur 285, Mansehra 297, Battagram 26, DIKhan 171 and in Bannu 388.
The DRCs are functioning in all district of the province where large number of people are approaching these councils for solution of their petty nature disputes. The main idea behind establishment of these councils is to provide quick and free of cost justice to the general public. The salient feature of the DRC decision is that no one feel guilty but win-win situation prevailed at the end for both parties. These councils have been formed in light of verses of Surah-Al-Hujarat where Allah Almighty has ordained â€œThe believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothersâ€.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is pioneer in introducing DRCs in the province. Now keeping in view its resounding performance and hall mark achievements other provinces are following the suit by starting establishment of DRCs in their respective province.
