Terrorism and crime incidents decrease during the current year. Police Report
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police exhibited exemplary performance against arms, ammunitions and narcotics peddlers during the year 2019 compared to the corresponding year of 2018 as the province has witnessed a significant decrease in the incidents of terrorism and other crimes.
According to the statistics, 7 incidents of kidnapping for ransom took place during the current year as compared to 11 in the year 2018. Thus, the incidents of kidnapping for ransom dropped by 35% as compared to last year. Moreover 20889 proclaimed offenders have been arrested during the year 2019 as compared to 20884 in the year 2018. Likewise 26 cases of vehicles snatching took place during the current year as compared to 31 cases of last year and thus the incidents dropped by 16%. A total of 6277 incidents of aerial firing reported during the year 2019 as compared to 7206 incidents of the year 2018 which are 929 less in numbers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has adopted an offensive-cum-defensive policy for combating terrorism. During the current year 79 incidents of terrorism took place as compared to 81 incidents of the last year.
Moreover Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police also gave tough time to narcotics peddlers. A total of 22979 kg narcotics have been recovered during the current year as compared to 20452 kg narcotics of last year. During the year 2019 police had recovered 21113 kg Charas as compared to 19051 kg in 2018. Police took into possession 767 kg opium during the current year as compared to 716 kg of last year. Similarly 989 kg of heroin have been recovered as compared to 658 kg of last year. Likewise police took into possession 108.721 kg of Ice during the current year as compared to 26.078 kg of the year 2018 which is more than 317%.
Similarly, 31841 cases were registered in violation of Arms Act as compared to 30256 cases of last year which are 1585 more in numbers. During the current year 2309 dynamites were recovered as compared to 1073 in the previous year which are 1236 more in numbers. During the current year police recovered 2299 riffles as compared to 2259 of previous year. This year 6763 number of shotgun have been recovered as compared to 6682 of last year. A total of 30558 number of pistols have been recovered during the current year as compared to 28134 pistols of last year which are 2424 more in numbers.
