IGP KP awarded Abbottabad police on better performance
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has reiterated his pledge that extortion in the province would be eliminated at all cost.
This he said while addressing an award distribution ceremony held at CPO Peshawar today. The function was arranged in recognition of services of those police officials who successfully traced and arrested the extortionists who were making calls for extortion money by using the name shah jago group of TTP. It merits mention here that some unknown accused sending anonymous letters and giving threatening calls to a property dealer Munir S/O Yaqoob and demanding Rs. 20 lakh from him. The extortionists using a sim of a person belonging to Hunza, Gilgit and making calls from Mansehra. The property dealer brought this into the notice of DPO Abbottabad who constituted a team headed by DSP Mirpur. The team professionally worked very hard and succeeded on unearthing the number through IMEI and arresting the real culprits i.e Shehzed Mehsood and Shoaib Mehsood R/O of Tank. Both were using the name of banned out fit and police also recovered the sim used in the threatening calls.
Speaking on the occasion the IGP informed that extortion was a big challenge for the police and due to hectic efforts of the police many groups involved in this heinous crime have been arrested which are either in lock ups or in jails. He vowed that those making lives of innocent people miserable through threating call would not be spared and would be brought to book at all cost. He commended the scientific investigation of the awardees and hoped that they would keep continue their efforts and would make best use of their knack and skill for giving tough time to the extortionists in future too. The IGP awarded cash prizes and commendation certificates to DSP Amjad Hussain, SHO PS Mirpur Inspector Muhammad Javed and Head Constable Hafeez-ur-Rahman.
