New pairs of police uniform were distributed amongst the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police jawans in a ceremony held at police lines Peshawar today.

DIG procurement Waqar Uddin Syed distributed the uniform amongst the jawans drawn from different districts of the province. Addressing on the occasion DIG procurement informed that the standard of uniform reflects the professional spirit and commitment of the force and distinguishes it from others. Recalling the complaints of the force jawan about the sub-standard of the uniform and security concern due to its availability in open markets, the DIG Informed that the Police Policy Board decided to streamline the procedure and ensure provision of standardized uniform to the force jawans. In this connection a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Pakistan Ordinance Factory Wah Cantt under which the factory is manufacturing the same standard/quality of uniform as it prepares for the Pak Army officers. DIG further informed under the agreement one lakh five thousands pairs of uniform have been purchased. 75 thousands and 555 pairs of uniform are available in police uniform Godown out of which 75 thousands 355 pairs have been distributed amongst the jawans. In order to avoid misuse of the police uniform the DIG informed that the private contactors stocks in the open market will be gradually banned added that the new uniform will be available only in prescribed institutions. DIG further elaborated that two pairs of uniform will be distributed amongst the Jawan in a year. Beside this order has been passed to the factory for purchase of 44 thousands Jersey and 44 thousands Jacket. In this connection 2 thousands jersey and 2 thousands jacket have been distributed amongst the Jawan while 10 thousands Jersey and each number of Jacket are being processed for inspection. Beside this five thousands shoes have also been purchased. DIG maintained that for the last three years the provincial govt was providing funds for the purchase of uniform regularly DIG hoped that by wearing the new uniform the force jawans will feel proud and will also win the hearts and minds of the general public and will thus add new feathers to the rich cap of the KP police. Later on the DIG distributed pairs of new uniform amongst the participants of the function.
