IGP KP Mr.Salah-ud-din Khan Mehsud ,presiding over law and order meeting
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salah-ud-din Khan Mehsud has directed police high ups to bridge the gap with the general public by sharing their cell number in print and electronic media for this purpose.
This, he said, while presiding over a high level law and order meeting of District Police Officers (DPOs) held in CPO Peshawar today. DIG Headquarters, SSP Peshawar and all DPOs largely attended the meeting. The IGP directed the participants to visit Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) in their respective district, personally meet with its members and encourage the public to visit councils for solution of their problems. They were also directed to visit Police Assistance Lines and check the staff dealing and behaviour with the public as well as the mechanism adopted for solution of the problems of the people there. DPOs were also directed to hold meeting with SHOs and Muharrars and direct them to deal with complainants especially the general public politely and win their hearts and minds with improved good behaviour. They were also directed not to tolerate the corrupt officials and shunt out those earning bad name for the force. The participants were also directed to give due importance to the welfare of the force jawans, regularly arrange orderly room, go to their barracks and check their living condition and meal and bring visible improvement in it. They were further directed to go to the field, meet the jawans in police stations, police posts and on nakabandies and brief themselves from their confronting problems and take care of their welfare and categorically made it clear that in case of not wearing protective gear and violence against innocent people the concerned DPO will be held responsible. The IGP also directed the participants to keep close coordination with Law Enforcing Agencies and take threat alert seriously by adopting effective pre-emptive and preventive measures for it. They were also directed to keep close watch on the movement of schedule four accused. The IGP also directed the participants to keep close contact with the families of police shuhadda on daily bases and solve their problems and difficulties on priority bases.
They were further directed to ensure security to police buildings, other important installations and VVIPs as well as security order be issued for public processions and the DPO shall personally visit the spot, check the security arrangements and ensure fool proof security of it.
DPOs were also directed to adopt open door policy, improve behaviour with the general public and give special attention and importance to their problems and difficulties.
Similarly they were directed to give due respect to the elected public representatives, visit to District Assembly and establish cordial relations with all members and take them into confidence about law and order in the district.
Earlier, all District Police Officer gave a detailed presentation about the confronting challenges in connection with law and order in their respective district and the steps taken for combating it effectively.
