IGP KP MR.Salah-ud-din Khan, has said that police shuhadda are nation heroes added that due to their supreme sacrifices peace and tranquility have returned to the province.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan has said that police shuhadda are nation heroes added that due to their supreme sacrifices peace and tranquility have returned to the province.

This, he said, while addressing a ceremony held in connection with Police Shuhadda Day at Nishtar Hall Peshawar today. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jaghra was the chief guest on the occasion. The Provincial Police Officer informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was fighting as a front line force against the terrorists and the courage and bravery exhibited by them have no parallel in the history. He pointed out that police was neither trained nor equipped with necessary equipments for this war added that one training college was established in Hangu where conventional training was being imparted to the jawan. However, he further went on to say that despite all these problems and difficulties the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police fought the war to the best of its capabilities and won the hearts and minds of the people through their exemplarily courageous performance. He disclosed that approximately 1500 police officers and jawans from the rank of constable to the Additional IGP laid down their precious lives during the last 12 years in the war against terror and even now each and every officer and jawan of the force are indebted with the sprit and motivation and ready to sacrifices life in the line of duty. The IGP further informed that on one side Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was kept fighting unconventional war and on the other hand was also busy in enhancing the capacity building of the force. He informed that beside more conventional training schools, specialized schools were established, Likewise Counter Terrorism Department, Intelligence Unit, Investigation, Information Technology and Bomb Disposal Units were established so as to effectively combat the war against terror. The IGP informed that more importantly Police Act 2017 was passed under which for the first time the police were fully made answerable to the public. The IGP said that the war against terror was not yet over, however added that the force had been put on right direction and hoped for better future of the nation. The Police Chief Salahuddin Khan reminded that the police force did not forget their shuhadda during this whole journey, added that shuhadda package was increased gradually and the provincial govt has doubled the police shuhadda package recently. He maintained that solving the confronting problems and difficulties of the heirs of police shuhadda and their welfare was his top most priority and he was issuing special orders to the concerned officers for this purpose on daily basis. He assured that no efforts will be left for bringing the police shuhadda package at par with other provinces. The IGP held in high esteem the courage and spirit of the heirs of the police shuhadda in the function and termed them great sons of the soil. He also appreciated the police Ghazis who bravely fought this war and termed them precious asset of the force.
