The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood today visited Police Command Post in Kohati gate Peshawar to review security arrangements for peaceful observance of Muharram.

The IGP went round different sections of the post and inspected and reviewed in detail the security steps taken for peaceful observance of Muharram. Chief Capital City Police Peshawar Muhammad Tahir Khan briefed the IGP about the security managements and live monitoring of the mourn processions through CCTV installed in the post. The IGP expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the police and issued more necessary instructions to the police high ups present on this occasion. The IGP also presided over a joint meeting of Ahle Tashie and Ahle Sunnat and exchanged views with them about the security arrangements adopted by the police in the command post. Leaders of both sects expressed full satisfaction over the adopted security measures and assured their full cooperation for peaceful observance of Muharram. The IGP also visited Army Control Room established in the command post where he was briefed with the help of maps and charts about the Muharram security steps. The IGP also met with the officials of other departments who were performing duty at the post and held in high esteem their efforts for peaceful observance of Muharram. Talking with the mediamen on the occasion the IGP pointed out that best coordination exist amongst Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, Pak Army, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, civil administration and Intelligence Agencies and joint search and strike operation are being carried out on intelligence based information of which better results are coming. The IGP informed that there was no hideouts/dens of the terrorists in tribal areas and this time security arrangements had been finalized a week ahead and all necessary security equipments have been provided to the districts where Muharram processions to be taken out. The IGP further revealed that Muharram security steps are being adopted with consultation and active support of both sects and general public and hoped that Muharram would be observed with due reverence in a peaceful and congenial atmosphere. To a question the IGP said that all districts of the province have equally been declared sensitive where Muharram processions are to be taken and equal security is being provided to all district. To another question the IGP informed that external apprehensions about security threats are there and keeping in view these apprehensions deployment is being made and intelligence based operations are being conducted. The IGP reiterated its pledge that any misadventure of any miscreants group will be averted with iron hands. Chief Capital City Police Muhammad Tahir, SSP Operation Peshawar Muhammad Sajjad and PSO to IGP Cap (R) Mansoor Aman also accompanied the IGP on this occasion.
