punishment of police personnel on account of declaration of negligence
A total of 8635 officials of various ranks of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force were so far awarded different punishments on account of dereliction of duty and other negligence. According to details, reward and punishment continued unabated and on the special directives of IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood, it has been made more effective as per need of the hour. The IGP is also receiving public complaints on his personal cell number and issuing proper enquiry orders to the quarter concerned. Moreover, the DIG Enquiry and Inspection office in CPO has also been activated for this purpose. Beside this, Police Access Services have been established in all districts of the province where public can register their complaints freely through different modes of communications especially through SOCIAL MEDIA, Face Book, Whatsapp and Twitter etc. According to the available data, so far, 21 DSPs were awarded different punishment during the last few years. Out of which 13 DSPs were dismissed or compulsory retired from service while 8 were demoted. Likewise, 94 inspectors were also awarded punishment in which 8 were dismissed/compulsory retired and 86 were reversed to the lower rank. Besides, 692 Sub Inspectors were also awarded punishment in which 55 were dismissed/compulsory retired from service and 637 were demoted. Similarly the name of 830 Sub Inspectors also found in the list of punishment in which 52 were dismissed/compulsory retired from service while 778 were degraded. Head Constables could also not evade from punishment and in the process, 1176 Head constables had also faced the music of punishment in which 92 were dismissed/compulsory retired and 1084 were degraded. Moreover, 5822 constables were also brought to justice in which 809 were kicked out from the force and 5013 were awarded major punishments. It may be recalled that all codal formalities have been fulfilled before awarding these punishments and all effectees were heard in person in the process. The IGP has categorically made it clear that reward and punishment will go together in the force irrespective of the rank and position of the officials.
