The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police performance in sports
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police team players under the aegis of Police Sports Board have exhibited excellence performance in different games and brought many laurels both at national as well as international level competitions.
According to details Police Sport Board was established in 2009 at a time when the terrorism reached its zenith. However the valiant jawans of police besides leading fighting terrorism from the front also started proving their mettle in different sports competitions. It is worth mentioning that police players are taking part in different sports competition i.e Hockey, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics, Swimming, Lawn Tennis, Bodybuilding and Squash. Many of its players have won several medals both at National and International games. Lady Constable Samreen Hashmi has so far won 18 National gold medals, 7 Silver medals, 3 national bronze medals and one each international gold and bronze medals. Beside this she has also been selected in the Pakistan Touch ball team for a tournament being played in Italy. Likewise constable Irfan Khan has represented Peshawar Zilmi and Multan Sultan in PSL as well as declared best bowler of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. In bodybuilding constable Ijaz Khan took part in several body building competitions at national and international level and won Dubai gold medals, 3 times national championship and Colombo South Asia Tournament. Similarly in cricket wicket keeper Gohar Khan beside finding place in Lahore Qalander team adjudged best wicket keeper of the tournament. World police games in swimming competition constable Nadeem and Asim Khan clinched 6th position in a tournament in which 52 countries participated and 1st position in Asian countries. In Hockey competition constable Jamil Bostan on his outstanding performance has been selected for Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament and Asia Cup matches. In football constable Badshah Gul and Alamgir represented Pakistan in international matches. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players have won 72 gold medals and 27 silver medals in different national and international competition. The breakup of these medals are as under. At national level in cricket 8 gold medals and 2 silver medals, in Volleyball 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals, in Hockey 8 gold medals and 2 silver medals, in football 14 gold medals and 5 silver medals, in badminton 6 gold medals and 3 silver medals, in tennis 3 gold medals, in Squash 3 silver medals and last but not the least at international level won 2 gold medals. Lady constable Samreen Hashmi exhibited outstanding performance in different games and stood 1st by winning 18 gold medals and 7 silver medals. The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood has expressed full satisfaction over the performance of police team players and has announced commendation certificate and cash awarded for them.
