The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood has said that the moral of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was very high and stood like a stumbling rock against the terrorists in the ongoing war against terror.
This, he said, while talking to media men during his visit to the hospital where he had gone to inquire after the health of injured police constable Naseebullah Khan. The constable got injured in an encounter which took place with the terrorists in Durban, DIKhan today. Answering a question, the IGP informed that protection of life, honour and property of the general public was prime responsibility of the police and peace and tranquility in the society would be ensured at all cost. It may be recalled that on a credible information about the presence of hard core terrorists at Garo Alam, area of Durban, the police and other law enforcing agencies carried out a joint operation.
On seeing the security forces personnel, the terrorists opened indiscriminate firing and hurled hand grenade on them. The security forces effectively retaliated the attack and in the encounter which lasted for about 14 hours, a notorious terrorist namely Abdul Hakeem s/o Abdu Rahman cast Gandapur r/o Kulachi was killed. Abdul Hakeem was wanted to police station Kulachi in several terrorist cases. In the counter three law enforcing jawans one each from Elite force, Pak Army and Frontier constabulary received injuries who were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.
