The KP police Hockey team by continuing the winning streak
The first Peshawar league hockey tournament was played at Ismail Abdaal Hockey ground Civil Quarter Peshawar. All best hockey teams of the province i.e. civil quarters, govt college Peshawar, PF college Peshawar, Mardan Hockey club, Chamkani Hockey club Peshawar, Qazi Hockey club and Butt Khela team took part in the tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players exhibited outstanding performance throughout the tournament and won all group matches by defeating Qazi Hockey club and govt college Peshawar and thus qualified for semi final. After neck to neck fight between KP police and Chmankani Hockey club in the semi-final, the former defeated the latter by 2-1 goals. The final of the tournament was played between kp police Hockey team and Civil Quarters. Member Provincial Assembly Malik Wajid was the chief guest on the occasion. The KP police Hockey team by continuing the winning streak defeated its opponent with big margin of 4-1 goals and thus won the converted 1st position of the tournament. Sajid, Muhammad Ali, Bostan and Sohail Iqbal scored one goal each for their team in the final. Addressing on the occasion, the chief guest highly appreciated the excellent performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Hockey players throughout the tournament by saying that despite busy in the field in the war against terror, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players also proved its mettle in the sport area by playing best hockey in the tournament. The Chief guest hoped that in future too the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players will repeat the same performance and will bring more laurels both at national and international level competitions. The chief guest gave away medals and trophies to the players who showed best performance in the tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police sport incharge Naeem Gul attributed the whole success of the tournament to the best guidance and supervision of the IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood and Director Police sport which enabled the players to outclass all teams in the competition. The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood has expressed full satisfaction over the performance of police hockey team players and has announced commendation certificate and cash awarded for them.
