Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan met with Senior Journalists and CTJF members at CPO.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan has said that Police and Press is inseparable and have equally great responsibilities of highlighting the best image of the province.
This, he said, while talking to Senior Journalists and Crime & Terrorism Journalists Forum (CTJF), who called on the IGP separately in Police Headquarters today. It may be recalled that it was the first formal interaction of the IGP with the journalists after assuming the charge of his office. The IGP outlining his broad policy guidelines informed that the Police officers had been directed to further consolidate the gains made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the last five years as well as made themselves accessible to the public and their sub- ordinates. Similarly they have been directed to further keep aloof the good rich traditions and customs of the province and demonstrate high degree of politeness and exemplary behaviour with the general public. The IGP informed that media serve as a beacon of light for the police force and on its pointation steps are being adopted for eradicating all social evils from the society and bringing improvement in the policing. Answering a question the IGP maintained that though terrorism had been eliminated to a great extent, however their remnants still exist in the society and police are hotly pursuing these elements. Answering another question about policing in the newly merged districts, the IGP informed that formal policing had been started in these areas, the local people had warmly welcomed the new system and extending full cooperation to the Police. The IGP pointed out that great responsibilities devolve on the shoulders of the media men to highlight the best true image of the province and urged them to make best use of its pen for positive activities and promote the habit of reading of news amongst the readers. The IGP commended the maturity level of the media men of the province by terming it best and hoped that they will perform its sacred duty as added strength of the police. The president of the forum introduced the newly elected members to the IGP. He while pinpointing the petty hurdles and confronting problems faced by the journalists community in better dispensation of journalistic duty also presented few suggestions and stressed the need for better coordination with the police force. They also presented a souvenir to the IGP as a momento to be remembered for best cordial relationship between the two. The police chief welcomed their suggestions and assured that close liaison with the journalist community will be kept continued and they will be extended all possible help to perform its professional duty in a dignified and excellent manner. On this occasion Floral wreath was also laid on the Yadgaar e Shuhadda Police and prayers were offered for solidarity & integrity of the country. The newly elected cabinet of the forum while commending the police also assured full cooperation to the force. Group photos were also taken with the IGP on this occasion. The senior journalists included Shamin Shahid, Asif Nisar, Muhammad Riaz, Fida Khattak, Mumtaz Bangash, Arif Yusufzai, Shakil Farman Ali, Jamshed Baghwan, Ali Akbar, Fareed Ullah Khan, Masood Ahmad Tariq Waheed, Jehangir Shehzad and Zia-ul-Haq.
