Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi addresses online Police Darbar of officers and Jawans of Peshawar Police.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi has said that the protection of life, honor and property of the general public is the prime responsibility of the police. The IGP KP directed the police officers and jawans to perform their duties as per attached expectations of the people and win their hearts and minds by exhibiting decent behavior with them.
This he said in an online video link Police darbar of the officers and jawans of Peshawar. The IGP informed that he was a proud commander of a force, which fought against the terrorists gallantly for more than a decade despite limited resources and unfavorable conditions. He directed the participants of the darbar to discharge their duties strictly within ambit of law by coming hard against the outlaws and win the hearts of peace loving people. They were further directed to adopt decent behavior with the general public everywhere and give due attention to the complainant who come to them for redressal of their complaints.
The IGP, while addressing the darbar, counted the achievements of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and said that more attention is given to reforms in Police. He said that important decisions have been made regarding devolution of powers to the lower ranks. The IGP KP said that independent committees have been constituted for postings / transfers of officers. The committee members after due consultation and deliberation make postings / transfers purely on merit. The IGP KP informed that he has delegated his powers to these committees which has no example in the past. The IGP also informed that several steps were taken to empower policing at police station level. For this purpose he said SHOs were given DDOs Power to overcome the financial problems at police station level.
The IGP said that new rules were framed for enlistment of heirs of police shuhada as ASI and so for 99% heirs of the police shuhada were enlisted.
Similarly, the IGP said that through promulgation of new laws deceased sons quota was fixed for enlistment in the force and in the process 525 heirs of the police employees are enlisted in police department.
While reforming the policing in the newly merged districts the IGP said that merger process of FATA was too slow for the last two years and he not only expedited it but also put it on right track and added that 99 percent levies and khasadars have been absorbed in KP police while the remaining would become part of police force very soon. He further said that the training of the levies and khasadars has also been started. Similarly, land has been acquired and construction of new police stations and offices will be started soon. The IGP said that the process of purchase of arms, security equipment, uniform and vehicles is also underway.
The IGP KP appreciated the efforts of police in fight against terrorism and eradication of narcotics. He said that the role of police in fighting against corona is matchless and said that 07 police officers and jawans sacrificed their precious lives in protecting the lives of the people.
The IGP KP categorically announced that there is no room for mistakes and strict action would be taken against those found involved in any unlawful activity.
