IGP KP Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi presides over conference to review police performance during the current year. |

The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi presided over a video link conference held at CPO Peshawar today. Additional IGP Investigation Feroze Shah briefed the IGP about the crime figures and the steps taken by the police for maintenance of law and order and crime control during the current year. Additional IGP HQRs, DIG Special Branch, DIG HQRs, DIG Elite Force, AIG Ops, AIG Training and other high ranking police officers attended the conference. CCPO Peshawar and all Regional Police Officers attended the conference via video link. While unfolding the annual report the IGP was briefed that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa law and order remained satisfactory during the current year with considerable decrease in crime as well as in terrorism which bespoke volume of excellent policing in the province. According to annual report the incidents of kidnapping for ransom recorded the lowest as compared to the correspondent year. The IGP KP was informed that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) while foiling various incidents of terrorism have arrested 370 terrorists which also included several dreaded terrorists carrying head money during the current year. Similarly 95 terrorists were killed in different encounters with police. As per report kidnapping for ransom decreased by 83 %, target killing by 37% and extortion by 11% during the current year. Likewise, the CTD police recovered 34.73 kg explosives, 87 hand grenades, 5 suicide jackets, 02 RPG, 438 detonators and 23 SMGs. The IGP was further informed that a total of 13326 search and strike operations were conducted in pursuance of National Action Plan (NAP) during the current year in which 61308 suspects were arrested. Similarly, 21690 Arms and 505393 cartridges were recovered. A total of 244150 houses were checked and 11340 FIRs were registered in violation of tenant information Act. Moreover 1277 cases were registered against the hotels on violation. Likewise, during 76180 snap checking 72190 suspects were taken into police custody and 13933 arms and 356676 ammunitions were recovered. Similarly, 528 cases were registered against 652 Afghanis on violation of foreign Act. The IGP KP was told that in the year 2020, decrease was also recorded in the routine crime as compared to the last year. It is worth mentioning that during current year the KP police performed its duty as a front line force in Covid-19 pandemic and beside routine policing also rendered supreme sacrifices of their precious lives while protecting the lives of the people. The IGP was further updated that during the current year the incidents of dacoity decreased 28%, robbery by 27%, theft by 15% and car snatching by 4 %. Similarly 3296 accused in murder and 5540 culprits in attempted murder were arrested. A total of 19101 proclaimed offenders were arrested and 184 POs were killed in different encounters with the police. The IGP was further briefed that KP police performance against narcotics peddlers also remained good during the current year. Police has recovered 18833 kg charas, 967.446 kg heroin, 1145.337 kg opium, 208 kg Ice and 46318 bottles of liquor. As per report 2050 Rifles, 6171 shot guns, 34265 pistols, 1371054 cartridges, 2844 klashnikovs, 464 kalakovs, 206 hand grenades, 4 stenguns, 2 pashpasha, 5 rocket launchers, 1957 detonators, 2232 dynamites and 4 bombs were recovered. The police annual report further revealed that 4175 disputes were solved amicably amongst the people through DRCs established for this purpose. Similarly, a total of 3144 complaints were addressed as per satisfaction of the complainants through Police Access Service (PAS) as well as 107053 applicants were extended needed help and relief via Police Assistance Lines (PALs) in the province during the current year. The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi has expressed satisfaction over the performance of KP police for maintenance of law and order and service delivery to the general public and directed the police high ups to further gear up their efforts and ensure in-time quick dispensation of justice to the people at all cost. The IGP made it clear that promoting public policing and ensuing establishment of peaceful society was his top most priority. The IGP pointed out that anti-state elements and criminals deserve no concession and directed the conference participants to come hard against them and play their pivotal role for ensuing peace and tranquility in the country. ![]() |
