Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi delivers online lecture to the students of University of Jamshoro Sindh today.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi has said that the police Act is a land mark history which mainly consists of making police financially autonomous and accountable to all stakeholders of the society.
This he said while delivering an online lecture on "Police Reforms" to the students of University of Sindh Jamshoro today. The IGP in his lecture thrown light in details on the newly introduced police reforms and the desired changes brought in the police force. The IGP informed that all citizens of the society have their equal rights and responsibilities and the three pillars of the criminal justice system i.e., police, courts and jails and termed police department as a linchpin in the criminal justice system added that police is the guarantor of all basic fundamental human rights enshrined in constitution of Pakistan to its citizen and that was why Police Act 2017 was introduced to make police financially autonomous, responsible and accountable force.
The IGP further went on to say that he delegated his powers to a committee at CPO level which consists of senior police officers. The IGP in his lecture further revealed that for the 1st time in the history of police SHOs were delegated financial powers by making them as DDOs. Similarly, effective reforms have been introduced in police investigations which are yielding positive and encouraging results and now nobody will be arrested without solid proofs. It was also disclosed that the police stations have been digitalized, cameras have been installed to monitor police stations, scientific forensic tools and techniques have been introduced to lift evidence from the crime scene. The IGP further revealed in his lecture that meaningful steps have been taken for developing research sector in police deptt added that after reforms Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been introduced to evaluate and ascertain police reforms effects on general public. The IGP also deliberated on the challenges being faced by the police on implementation of these reforms i.e. Covid-19, social media and fifth generation war etc. The IGP informed that younger generation are the main stakeholders that was why efforts are being made to make them part and parcel of police team to deliver to the public.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor of Singh University Jamshoro Professor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro in his welcome address highlighted the services of IGP KPK Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi in the field of police as well as educating the students of different universities through his well thought lectures. At the end the students asked various questions from IGP in light of his lecture which were answered to their entire satisfaction. It is worth mentioning that the lecture of the IGP KP was watched live by thousands of people on social media.
