IGP KP Nasir Khan Durrani Presiding over Law and other meeting
Regional Police Officers (RPOs) conference was held at Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar today under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani. Additional IGPs Elite, Headquarters, CTD and all Regional Police Officers participated in the meeting. The meeting took stock of the crime and law and order situation in the province and discussed other professional matters. During the meeting it was observed that ratio of murder was shown a slight increase in province in comparison to corresponding previous year. The participants discussed the issue in detail and the primary reason of murder was identified the old "blood feud". Therefore it was decided that data of all blood feuds be collected through Public Liaison Council ((PLC) members. In the first phase preventive measures should be taken against the parties to avoid blood shed while in the 2nd phase the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) members should be involved to help resolution of the feud. Similarly the participants have shown satisfaction over the decreasing incidents of terrorism, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. The IGP has directed to enhance search and strike operation, snap checking and intelligence based operations in the known militant infested areas. The IGP further directed all RPOs that private lending (usury) has been prohibited by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt. due to its exploitative nature, therefore all RPOs should initiate an anti-usury campaign. Local media shall be used to create awareness amongst the public and the help of DRC members should be enlisted in this regard.
