IGP KP Nasir Khan Durrani, presided FSL meeting
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of IGP to review the overall performance of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was attended by Addl: IGP Investigation Dr. Masood Aslam, DIG Headquarters ,Muhammad Alam Shinwari, AIG Establishment Najeeb-Ur-Rehman Bugvi.

Director FSL Rab Nawaz briefed the IGP about the present conditions, work load, human resources, challenges and future revitalization plan for the laboratory. The director informed that all the pendency of previous years has been cleared and efforts are made to minimize the time for finalization of reports. The director also informed the house that the experts of FSL have started training investigators of different regions regarding collection of evidence/ sample, its secure transmission and relation to the offence. The IGP appreciated the efforts for strengthening of the FSL and directed that experts shall be inducted in FSL who are having relevant scientific qualification and expertise to improve the quality of reports. Similarly it was directed that finger print analysis wing shall be further strengthened along with other sections like Photo Graphy , Video making and crime scene analysis to improve prosecution of the criminals.

The IGP has further directed that technical assistance of Punjab FSL shall be enlisted and experts shall be sent to PFSL for advance technical training and development of new skills in the field of forensic analysis. The IGP directed to develop SOPs for sample collection in timeline for each analysis and report generation particularly in the case of tempered vehicle and questioned documents to expedite disposal of these cases in the court for facilitation of general public. A follow up meeting will be held in the last week of March to review implementation of the directions given in this meeting.
